County commissioner’s March blog

It is hard to comprehend that I have been in post for almost 3 months…where does the time fly?  Once again, I have had a busy month visiting various units and events, which I really enjoy.

On Monday 27 February I visited 1st Buttsbury Rainbows where I presented Gold awards to Jessica and Sophie. We had a great fun evening making skiing people to the see which sort of texture the skiers performed quickest on. The girls had lots of fun and I think some were surprised at the results.  We ended the evening with drink and cake to celebrate the two girls achieving their award. Well done everyone.

I have also attended Billericay division leaders thank you event and renewal of promise.  It gave me great pleasure to present 3 long service awards to 3 very worthy recipients.  Both Janet Nelson and Joyce Ward were presented with their 30 year Long Service award and it gave me great pleasure in presenting Janet Masters with her 60 year Long Service award. Truly an amazing achievement.  Many congratulation to all 3 leaders.

Finally, I was lucky enough to go to SHINDIGS (SHow IN A Day In Guiding And Scouting). This was truly spectacular and it was fabulous to see 120 young people and leaders take to the stage and give it their all. Incredible level of enthusiasm. Not forgetting the 60 leaders and helpers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure it was such a successful event.  I can’t wait for your full show in February 2024. Well done everyone involved and thank you to all those who supported in any way.

It is really lovely going around the county meeting new leaders and seeing what the girls are doing….and sometimes even being allowed to join in!!

Please don’t forget to let me know if you would like me to visit your unit, doesn’t have to be for a specific reason and I will try my best to come….although I can’t promise to do them all. I hope you all had a great Thinking Day and have had the opportunity to check out the new branding.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your continued hard work ensuring all our girls have the best experience they can.
