Southend East 100th World Thinking Day Celebration

Sunday 8 March saw Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Young Leaders, Rangers & adults from across Southend East division join together at Southend High School for Girls to take part in an afternoon of activities and fun whilst celebrating 100 years of World Thinking Day.

Activities included circus skills, dance, indoor curling, hand chimes, camel races, maori sticks, many crafts including dot painting, woven fish, hieroglyph, Moroccan lamps, ring pull crocodiles, Warli art plus several games to have a go at too!

Excited groups of girls and their leaders arrived and dived straight into the activities spending the afternoon moving between all the things on offer. The afternoon was rounded off with all the sections learning about how Thinking Day began in 1926, the start of the World Thinking Day Fund & the theme of ‘Our Friendship’ for 2026, ending with all sections renewing their promise.

All this would not have been possible without our fantastic volunteers who ran the tables & activities, we had Rangers from various units, Trefoil Guild members, district helpers, leaders from other areas – Thank you all so much.

The biggest thanks must go to Wendy our event leader – it would never have happened without you.
