County Commissioner

Your next opportunity – Have you considered becoming the next county commissioner?

A message from Anglia Chief Commissioner.

The time has come to find a new county commissioner as Alison and her team are due to step down from their roles on 1 October 2022.

The county commissioner is an exciting, challenging and rewarding role, leading the county as it continues to develop and grow. As county commissioner you are both an internal and an external ‘figurehead’ for Guiding in your area. You need to have a good knowledge of Guiding, be able to communicate effectively, be able to enthuse others, take responsibility for difficult decisions when necessary and appropriate, be approachable, enjoy working with adults and value people and have a sense of humour.

The county commissioner role is very much about teamwork, building a team together to enable the tasks to be shared across several people within the county team, therefore you will always have support available. This role can also be achieved by a role share. As a county commissioner, you are very much part of a wider team, receiving support from the Region Chief Team, other county commissioners, and our Region office team.

Are you interested in this role? Or know someone you would like to nominate for the role? There is also an option to role share if two of you would like to put yourselves forward. So, please discuss this with your fellow leaders and if you are interested and wish to put yourself or someone forward, please complete the nomination form and send it to Tracy Foster. Or if you wish to have a chat about the role do get into touch.   Tracy Foster, Region Chief Commissioner, email tracyf@girlguiding-anglia.org.uk or post to c/o Anglia region Office, 7 Great Hautbois Road, Coltishall, Norwich, NR12 7JN.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Tracy Foster

Region Chief Commissioner

Closing date: 1 July 2022

Quote from a former county commissioner.
Being County Commissioner was a great honour and I really enjoyed the role. Don’t get me wrong, there are challenges but there is so much support and having a great team really helped. Don’t be put off by the commitment or worrying you don’t know everything – take a chance, I did and so glad I said yes! It really opens your eyes to the great things guiding does across the whole region”
